Bobby Pierce celebrates a $10,000 World of Outlaws victory at Farmer City.
What won the race: Third-starting Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., took the lead from race-long leader Nick Hoffman amid traffic on lap 28 and never looked back to win Thursday's World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series feature at Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway. Pierce's second straight WoO victory at Farmer City is worth $10,000.
Quotable: “(I have) a lot of laps here, ya know? Here and Tri-City tomorrow is probably the most laps I’ve had on race tracks growing up. It’s been a lot nights cutting my teeth here on a Friday night, I got my first Crate Late Model win here,” Pierce said. “That (the track surface) was a little more hammer down than I’d like to see, that’s for sure, but it was a good race. I got the pick there with the lapped car and that was my only move to make it happen, we made it happen and what a night.”
Key notes: Pierce's triumph reduces Chris Madden's series lead to 50 points as the WoO heads to Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Ill., for Friday's $12,000-to-win feature. ... The second-starting Hoffman of Mooresville, N.C., led the first 27 laps before lapped traffic allowed Pierce to pass him on the bottom of turn four. ... Hoffman finished 0.407 of a second behind Pierce. ... Kyle Bronson and Brian Shirley advanced seven positions each, finishing third and sixth. ... Ryan Gustin gained three spots and finished fifth. ... Polesitter Chris Madden failed to lead a lap and faded to finish seventh. ... Shane Clanton slowed from seventh place on lap 19, drawing the race's second caution; Clanton finished 20th. ... Thursday's feature was slowed by three incidents and lasted 16 minutes, with 16 competitors completing all 40 laps.
On the move: Kyle Bronson of Brandon, Fla., started 10th and finished third.
