What won the race: After setting fast time and winning his heat race, pole-starting Ethan Dotson of Bakersfield, Calif., led all 40 laps at Arrowhead Speedway, winning Friday's $5,000 Fujita 50 and earning his second career Comp Cams Super Dirt Series victory. Dotson, the first-year Late Model racer, notched his second series win in as many starts after topping April's visit to Old No. 1 Speedway in Harrisburg, Ark.
Quotable: “Yeah this place is cool, too bad it rained, I feel like if it would’ve slicked-off, it would’ve been a really really cool joint,” Dotson said. “Honestly, I can’t thank you fans for sticking it out through the rain and everything, shoot we thought about loading up a few times and leaving, so you guys are troopers, that’s awesome. It’s an awesome series, Jack and you guys do a great job and I’m just super fortunate to be driving.”
Key notes: Billy Moyer Jr. moved into the runner-up spot on lap six and trailed Dotson the rest of the way, finishing 4.416 seconds back. ... After slipping to fifth in the early laps, Brian Rickman recovered to finish third. ... B.J. Robinson advanced two positions and finished fourth. ... Jamie Burford gained four spots and finished ninth, the last car on the lead lap. Comp Cams series points leader Kyle Beard finished 10th. ... Making his first Late Model start in over a year, Jesse Stovall finished 11th aboard Tony Jackson Jr.'s backup car; Jackson Jr., of Lebanon, Mo., scratched for the evening after spinning and sustaining heavy damage in his heat race. ... Friday's feature, the inaugural series visit to Arrowhead, was completed without incident and lasted only nine minutes, with nine competitors completing all 40 laps; Rain caused a multi-hour delay to start the night, with Friday's main event going green just before 12:30 a.m. local time. … The Okie State weekend doubleheader concludes with Saturday’s $5,000-to-win feature at Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, Okla.
On the move: Jamie Burford of Keatchie, La., started 13th and finished ninth.
Winner's sponsors: Dotson’s Chris Bragg Racing Longhorn by Loenbro Chassis is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and carries sponsorship from Finish Line Outdoors, Cliff’s Goodyear Auto Service, Contractor Supply Group, Laynard Construction Services, Stones Manure Money and Bilstein Shocks, with a special thanks to Tyler Bragg and Twinkie for their help.
