Norris becomes the first repeat winner of the year at Port Royal and secures his first career Appalachian Mountain Speedweek victory; It was a winning weekend for Norris after topping Friday's 18-car field at Lernerville Speedway.
Quotable: “Yeah thank you, we’ve been here once and the car was really good,” Norris said. “I was nervous because the track was a little different than it was when we were here before. It’s hard when you’re leading because you don’t know how good you are and where you’re gaining and losing. I wasn’t sure if that (lap-24) caution was gonna help or hurt me because clean air means so much here.”
Key notes: Tyler Emory battled Kyle Lee for the runner-up position near halfway, prevailing to finish 0.939 of a second behind Norris. ... Lee, of Mercersburg, Pa., settled for third. ... Second-starting Rick Eckert faded to finish fourth. ... Jeff Rine advanced one position and finished fifth. ... Dan Stone gained three spots and finished sixth. ... Drake Troutman started and finished eighth. ... Gregg Satterlee started 14th and finished 10th. ... Friday's Appalachian Mountain Speedweek opening night winner at Clinton County Speedway, Jason Covert of York Haven, Pa., failed to qualify for Saturday’s main event at Port Royal after finishing fifth in the second B-main. ... Saturday's feature was slowed by just one caution for debris and lasted 16 minutes, with 18 competitors completing all 35 laps. ... Appalachian Mountain Speedweek continues with Sunday's $4,000-to-win feature at Hagerstown Speedway.
On the move: Kyle Hardy of Stephens City, Va., started 18th and finished seventh.
