Tyler Emory inherited a victory at Lincoln Speedway.
What won the race: Tyler Emory of King George, Va., inherited Saturday's Appalachian Mountain Speedweek victory at Lincoln Speedway after apparent winner Cody Overton of Evans, Ga., was disqualified in postrace technical inspection. Emory, who lost the lead to Overton on the 21st lap amid traffic, earned $4,000 and virtually clinched the miniseries points title. Overton was penalized for using an illegal suspension limiter.
Quotable: "Definitely not how we wanted to win it," Emory said. "I don't even know what to say (virtually clinching the miniseries title). When Jim put this deal together, we wanted to run good, but this is a tough deal. ... It's unbelievable. I don't know what to say. I just have to thank everybody that helps me do this."
Key notes: Overton, driving Bruce Kane’s No. 15K Rocket Chassis, was stripped of the victory for using an illegal suspension limiter; miniseries director Jim Bernheisel's statement on the disqualification: "We have three rear suspension rules ... the third is the droop limiter must be an open-style suspension limiter and visible with a one-inch puck. They clearly didn't have it visible and it clearly wasn't a one-inch puck. It was a spring apparatus, which I hated to do it. The guy won the race. He was cool. He was great. He drove a great race. But I had no choice. That rule is virtually in line with everything in the nation." ... Rick Eckert of York, Pa., started from the pole but failed to lead a lap. ... Emory clinches the miniseries title by simply registering for Sunday's finale at Selinsgrove (Pa.) Speedway; his 180-point lead over Gregg Satterlee is insurmountable because 155 points is the most a driver can total in competition on a single night. ... Danville, Pa.'s Jeff Rine, who entered Saturday third in miniseries points, failed to qualify for the main event and falls to seventh in points. ... Originally scheduled to be the seventh of eight Speedweek rounds this year, Lincoln was the fifth race of the miniseries after rainouts at Path Valley Speedway on Tuesday and Friday at Bedford Speedway. ... One caution for Shaun Jones on lap 10 slowed the 35-lap feature that lasted 13 minutes.
On the move: Jamie Lathroum of Mechanicsville, Md., started 18th and finished ninth.
