What won the race: Fast qualifier and pole-starting Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., captured Friday's second World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series preliminary victory in 81 Speedway's Wichita Late Model Showdown. Pierce earned a $4,000 payday ahead of second-starting Tanner English, who led the opening five laps.x
Quotable: "I figured if I could run the bottom and get the lead on the bottom, it'd be better than the top," Pierce said. "Tanner was running the top at the time (I took the lead on lap six) and I got the lead on the bottom. I felt pretty good down there, really. I didn't want to run the top unless I had to. I guess really toward the end of the race, the track got racy and moved around ... and we had to get back up on top."
