Mike Mullen picked up a $1,500 victory in Seymour, Wis.
What won the race: Third-starting Mike Mullen of Seymour, Wis., took the lead on lap 13 and never looked back en route to capturing Friday's 30-lap Mid-Summer Showdown at Outagamie Speedway. Mullen's victory was his second of the season and the third of his career on the Wabam Dirt Kings Tour, with all of them coming at his home track.
Key notes: Mullen led twice for 19 circuits (laps 9 and 13-30). ... Second-starting Terry Casey led twice for 10 laps (2-8, 10-12) before pulling off on lap 23 and finishing 17th. ... Ninth-starting Justin Ritchie moved into the runner-up position on a lap-21 restart and trailed Mullen the rest of the way, finishing 1.997 seconds back. ... Nick Anvelink, the series points leader and all-time winningest driver, advanced 12 positions and finished third. ... Troy Springborn gained three spots and finished seventh. ... After winning the consolation, Brett Swedberg started 17th and finished ninth. ... Bill Edler led the first lap from the pole before fading to finish 13th. … Friday's feature, the second of three series stops at Outagamie, was slowed by three cautions and lasted 21 minutes; 15 drivers completed all 30 laps. ... Outagamie hosts the Dirt Kings Tour again on Sept. 9.
