What won the race: Inheriting the lead from Sam Seawright with four laps remaining when the front of Seawright’s hood came undone and flew up, blocking the leader’s vision, Wil Herrington of Hawkinsville, Ga., led the rest of the way to win Sunday’s Hunt the Front-sanctioned feature at Duck River Raceway Park. Finishing 1.408 seconds ahead of Josh Putnam, Herrington pocketed $7,500 for his second win with the first-year tour along with adding the $5,000 mid-season title.

Quotable: “I saw (Seawright) getting slower and slower down the backshute there and I didn’t know what happened,” said Herrington. “He had the race won. He had the best car. I hate that for him. He’s always good here. I knew we’d probably have to beat him tonight. It’s just one of them things it fell in our lap kinda.”

Key notes: Herrington and runner-up Putnam of Florence, Ala., had differing views of contact between the two following a scrape after a lap-22 restart that sent Herrington diving below a yuke tire in turn three while dropping the eventual winner back to third for three laps. … Herrington earned an additional $5,000 for being the series points leader at the halfway mark of the season. … Seawright, of Rainsville, Ala., executed a perfectly timed cross-over exiting turn four on lap 13 to grab the lead from polesitter Trey Mills of St. Augustine, Fla. … Mills was still running third when he rolled the nose of his car under causing a left front flat. He made just 22 laps and was credited with 20th. … The race was slowed by three cautions. Caden Mullinax of Birmingham, Ala., slowed with a flat on lap 22. A caution flew because of a scramble on the lap-22 restart. The final yellow was for Seawright’s misfortune. … Eighteen cars finished the race with 16 on the lead lap. .. Sunday’s race was the finale of a holiday weekend doubleheader for the series. … The series returns to Duck River on Aug. 5 for a $20,000-to-win event.

On the move: Both 13th-starting Heath Hindman of Signal Mountain, Tenn., and 14th-starting Christian Hanger of Winchester, Tenn., improved six positions.
