Scoring an upset victory when all-time winningest series driver Shannon Babb was caught up in lapped traffic between turns three and four on the final lap, Dylan Thompson of Paducah, Ky., scored his first career DIRTcar Summer Nationals victory Sunday at Tri-State Speedway. Thompson earned $5,000 in taking the checkers 1.878 seconds ahead of Babb, who was in control when Mick Quin’s car forced Babb high on the last lap, allowing Thompson to slip by to lead his only lap, the 40th.
