What won the race: Pole-starting Mason Zeigler of Chalk Hill, Pa., led all 50 laps to win Friday's rain-postponed Autism Awareness feature, collecting $10,000 for topping the DIRTcar Super Late Model field at Lernerville Speedway. Zeigler notched his second victory of the season by 1.313 seconds over Alex Ferree.
Key notes: The victory was Zeigler's first since bagging an $8,700 win on May 5 at Bedford (Pa.) Speedway. ... Ferree trailed Zeigler from a lap-seven restart to the finish, though he nearly lost the runner-up position on the final circuit. ... Second-starting Michael Norris challenged Zeigler early before drawing the race's second caution and tagging the field on lap six; Norris stormed through the field and rebounded to finish third at his home track. ... Seventh-starting Chub Frank ran as high as third in the closing laps before settling for fourth. ... Eric Wilson advanced eight positions and finished sixth. ... Fifth-starting Gregg Satterlee never contended and finished seventh. ... Dan Angelicchio ran as high as third just past halfway before fading to place eighth. ... The race was slowed by six separate incidents, most-notably a 15-minute red flag when Gary Lyle flipped on lap 23; he was uninjured. ... Friday's 50-lap feature, originally scheduled for July 28 before being rain-postponed, raised money for Autism Pittsburgh, the area’s top advocacy and educational organization. ... The main event lasted 43 minutes with 10 drivers completing the entire distance and 12 running at the finish.
On the move: Andrew Wylie of Saltsburg, Pa., started 20th and finished ninth.
