What won the race: Executing a perfect outside move on a lap-12 restart, fourth-starting Jake Redetzke of Eau Claire, Wis., led the remaining distance to win Saturday's 40-lap Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series feature at Rice Lake Speedway. Redetzke earned $2,000 for his second series win of the season and the 17th of his career.
Quotable: “(This year) has been a lot of fun,” Redetzke said. “This (win) goes to my crew. I’ve been pretty hard on them the past few weeks and I’ve been really mean to them, but man, this feels good. They’ve been working hard. Our crew chief is back at home sick, so these three guys have really stepped up and it’s been awesome.”
Key notes: Darrell Nelson led laps 3-11 before giving way to Redetzke and finishing 1.917 seconds behind in second. ... Eighth-starting Jeff Massingill took third on lap 29 and completed the podium. ... Chad Mahder finished fourth after grabbing the spot on lap 34. ... Series points leader Pat Doar never ran higher than fourth and settled for fifth. ... Kevin Eder led the first two laps from the pole before fading to finish sixth. ... Daniel Bargender advanced four positions and finished seventh. ... Fifth-starting Dustin Sorensen lost three spots and finished eighth aboard the Jimmy Mars-owned MB Customs house car; Jimmy's son, Sam Mars finished 11th. ... Mike Prochnow gained six spots and finished 10th. ... John Kaanta pulled off after drawing the race's second caution on lap 12. ... Saturday's 24-minute feature was slowed by five separate incidents and saw 14 competitors complete 40 laps with 16 running at the checkers.
