What won the race: Third-starting Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn., took the lead from race-long leader Christian Hanger on lap 22 and led the final 19 circuits to win Saturday's seventh annual $5,000 Dirtslinger Classic at I-75 Raceway. Hedgecock tallied his third career Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series victory, with both previous wins coming at I-75 in 2018 and '22.
Key notes: Hedgecock scored his third win of the season at I-75 after topping April's $7,500 American Crate All-Star race and June's $5,000 Crate Racin' USA Series stops there. ... Fresh off last weekend's $5,000 Iron-Man Series triumph at North Alabama Speedway, Christian Hanger led the first 21 laps from the pole before being overtaken by Hedgecock and pulling off while running second on lap 31. ... Sixth-starting Corey Roulette inherited the runner-up spot when Hanger retired and trailed Hedgecock the rest of the way, finishing 1.595 seconds back. ... Heath Hindman and Bobby Giffin also took advantage of Hanger's misfortune, finishing third and fourth. ... Reigning series champion Billy Franklin advanced six positions and finished sixth. ... Series points leader Caleb Gay gained three spots and finished seventh. ... Seventh-running Shay Miller called it a night on lap 24. ... Saturday's 24-minute feature was slowed by four cautions with 10 drivers completing 40 laps and 12 running at the finish.
