Blair Nothdurft takes the checkers at Fairmont Raceway.
What won the race: Third-starting Blair Nothdurft of Renner, S.D., took the lead on lap nine and never looked back en route winning Friday's 21-lap Repairable Vehicles.com Tri-State Late Model Series season finale at Fairmont Raceway. Nothdurft earned $2,400 his second series victory of the season and the eighth of his career, moving him into a four-way tie for third on the tour's all-time wins list.
Key notes: Sixth-starting Cole Searing moved into the runner-up spot on a lap-20 restart and finished 1.214 seconds back while clinching his first career series championship. ... Fifth-starting Luke Sathoff occupied second until being overtaken by Searing on the late-race restart and settling for third. ... Seventh-starting Lane Brenden also took advantage of the lap-20 restart to finish fourth. ... Benjamin Chukuske improved three positions and finished sixth. ... Pole-starting Shane DeMey led the first eight laps before being overtaken by Nothdurf and later experiencing race-ending mechanical failure while running second on lap nine. ... Friday's 21-lap feature was slowed by two separate incidents, including a 15-minute red flag for fifth-running Tyler Myers on lap 19. ... The lasted 30 minutes, with eight drivers completing the distance and nine running at the finish. ... Dylan Fitzpatrick and Gary Brown Jr. scratched from the feature lineup. ... Many Tri-State Series competitors are racing Aug. 26 at Worthington (Minn.) Speedway, a non-points event that was a late schedule addition.
