Bobby Pierce nabbed his second straight Davenport feature.
What won the race: Winning his ninth race in his last 10 starts overall, red-hot Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., went around race-long leader Chris Madden exiting turn four on the 20th lap Friday at Davenport Speedway to win the 35-lap second round of the My Place Hotels Quad Cities 50. The series points leader notched his second $10,000 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series of the weekend in becoming the clear-cut favorite for Saturday’s $30,000-to-win weekend finale. Madden settled for second, 14.473 seconds behind at the checkers, with Brandon Sheppard in third for the second straight night.

Cade Dillard led all eight laps to win the first heat race by 0.608 of a second over Brandon Sheppard. Sixth-starting Jason Feger grabbed the final transfer spot on a lap-seven restart. Fourth-running Jason Rauen drew the race’s only caution when he hopped the turn-three cushion and left the racing surface; Rauen finished seventh. … Bobby Pierce cruised to lead the entire distance of heat two, winning by 1.206 seconds over fourth-starting Kyle Bronson. Matt Ryan drew the race’s only caution when he slowed and pulled off on lap five. … Shane Clanton led green-to-checkered to win heat three by 1.445 seconds over Brian Shirley. While racing for fourth, Tanner English and Johnny Scott made contact, sending Scott off the track in turn two and hard into the barrier surrounding an infield light pole; although uninjured, Scott was unable to continue. … Chris Madden dominated the fourth and final heat race aboard his new Longhorn Chassis, winning by more than two seconds over Frank Heckenast Jr. Fifth-starting Spencer Diercks took the final transfer spot from Trevor Gundaker on the final lap.
