What won the race: Taking the point from race-long pacesetter Logan Martin on lap 21, third-starting Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., paced the final five circuits to win Friday's $6,600 inaugural Hayden Ross Memorial at Thunderbird Speedway. Moyer notched his third overall victory of the season and the 850th of his Hall of Fame career.
Key notes: The second-starting Martin, of West Plains, Mo., led the first 20 laps before giving way to Moyer and finishing a distant 5.307 seconds back. ... The race's lone caution flew on lap 10 when a lapped car hit an infield tire and sent it directly into the path of second-running Dillon McCowan; McCowan was unable to avoid the runaway yuke tire and collected seventh-running Eli Ross, ending both of their nights. ... Fifth-starting Jeff Roth took advantage of McCowan's misfortune and moved into third on the lap-11 restart, completing the podium. ... Kylan Garner started and finished fourth. ... Comp Cams Series regular and seventh-starting Jon Kirby took fifth on the lap-11 restart and completed the top-five finishers. ... Chris Hawkins improved six positions and finished sixth. ... - Sprint car midget standout and hometown driver Kaylee Bryson made her Super Late Model debut piloting a Rocket Chassis owned by Brady and Liz Ross, parents of Hayden Ross who tragically died last October at the age of 20 and was posthumously crowned the 2022 Sooner Series champion; Bryson started and finished eighth. ... Four-time Sooner Series champ Kip Hughes gained six spots and finished ninth. ... Friday's 27-minute feature saw 10 drivers complete 25 laps. ... Tanner Mullens and Cole Wells scratched from the main event lineup.
On the move: Jace Parmley of Neosho, Mo., started 19th and finished seventh.
