What won the race: Charging from the 22nd starting spot, Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C., overtook race-long pacesetter Kyle Bronson of Brandon, Fla., for the lead on lap 46 and went on to a $15,000 victory in Saturday night’s 50-lap Connor Bobik Memorial at Marion Center Raceway. The soon-to-be 49-year-old standout pulled away to beat Bronson by 1.316 seconds for his second straight win on the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series.

Quotable: “We were terrible early in the night, but it comes around and gets kind of slick there in the feature and that’s kind of our expertise,” Madden said. “We’re just happy to be in victory lane tonight.”

Key notes: Madden, who struggled early in the program while transferring with a runner-up finish in a B-main, backed up his triumph in Thursday’s WoO stop at Raceway 7 in Conneaut, Ohio. It was his 38th career checkered flag on the tour, tying him with Rick Eckert for sixth on the all-time win list. … Fourth-starter Bronson led laps 1-45 before watching Madden slip past him on the inside of turns three and four while racing through lapped traffic. It marked his second straight runner-up finish to Madden. ... Nick Hoffman sat second when a caution flag flew on lap 28, but he lost a spot on the restart and fell to fourth by lap 34. The WoO points leader regained third from Cade Dillard on lap 44 and finished there. ... Michael Norris, who started 18th, overtook Dillard on the final lap to finish fourth. ... Bobby Pierce was never a factor as he finished 13th. ... Two caution flags slowed the race: on the first lap for a tangle involving Max McLaughlin, Gregg Satterlee and Ken Schaltenbrand and lap 28 when Ryan Gustin, last year's WoO winner at Marion Center, slipped off the track in turn two running well back in the pack. ... McLaughlin pitted for body repairs after the early incident but rallied to finish seventh. ... The 14th annual event paid tribute to the five-year-old Connor Bobik who died on Feb. 2, 2011, after a bout with brain cancer.
