Dustin Strand celebrates his last-lap victory at River Cities.
What won the race: Making a remarkable inside move exiting turn four on the final lap, hometown driver Dustin Strand overtook Shane Edginton by 0.049 of a second at the checkers for his second Northern LateModel Racing Association victory of the season and 31st of his career. Edginton took the lead from Strand on the eighth lap, but Strand nipped him at the finish of the 25-lapper.
Quotable: "Shane's about one of the best around the bottom and I wanted to stay up high because it was a little smoother, but he was so good around the bottom," Strand said. "It was definitely his race. The lapped car kind of screwed him up and we were able to capitalize it. It had to be pretty close at the line there."
Key notes: Strand won for the second week in a row at River Cities. After hurting a motor in May 31's NLRA event at his home track, he headed home, swapped motors and came back to win the night's makeup weekly feature. ...
Two rollover accidents marred Friday's NLRA event. ... Second-running Laela Eiesenschenk's car rolled violently on a lap-five restart; she was OK after her car dug into the inside groove and barrel-rolled in front of the field between turns one and two. She led the opening lap from the pole. ... On the 13th lap, Greg Moore went over the turn-two banking and rolled; he was OK. ... John Seng scratched from the feature lineup.
On the move: Hometown driver Brad Seng started 15th and finished ninth.
