What won the race: Using an inside of three-wide pass on lap 33 to overtake mid-race leader Dan Bargender and early pacesetter A.J. Diemel, second-starting Sammy Mars of Menomonie, Wis., led the rest of the way to top Saturday's 40-lap Month of Money feature at Cedar Lake Speedway. Mars sped to the $5,000 payday 2.417 seconds ahead of Bargender as he collected his first career victory on the Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series and his first of any kind with a touring series.

Quotable: “That was an interesting race there, a lot of comers and goers. Danny (Bargender), A.J. (Diemel) did a good job,” Mars said. “The bottom (line) just came in and I was kinda jumpin’ over the (inside) tires there a little bit, but it worked out. It’s really cool. Between me, Dan, A.J., that’s a (MB Customs) shop 1-2-3, so you don’t get any better than that.”

Key notes: Mars led twice for nine laps (1, 33-40) for his fifth overall victory of the season and his fourth at Cedar Lake. ... Fourth-starting Bargender led laps 7-32 before giving way to Mars. ... Pole-starting Diemel paced laps 2-6 before settling for third. ... Tyler Peterson overcame a lap-five spin with Jim Carlson that drew the race's first caution and rebounded to finish ninth. ... Peterson lowered the WISSOTA track record (13,953 seconds), breaking the 25-year-old mark of Joel Cryderman (14.784). ... Cory Crapser slowed to cause the fourth and final stoppage on lap 19. ... Crapser and Pat Doar made heavy contact with Cory Mahder as they attempted to lap him in the second heat, knocking all three out of the race. Crapser utilized a provisional while Doar did not qualify at his home track. ... Mahder, Mike Prochnow and Gunner Frank were among other DNQs. ... The feature lasted 23 minutes with 22 cars running at the finish.
