What won the race: Staying perfect over two nights, Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., led all 25 laps of Florence Speedway's nonstop nightcap semifeature Friday during the Sunoco North-South 100 weekend. Davenport has two fast times in his group, two heat victories and two semifeature victories heading into Saturday's $75,000 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series finale. Davenport took the checkers 1.982 seconds ahead of Ricky Thornton Jr., Thursday's other semifeature winner.

Quotable: "There at the end I didn't feel like I could quite get by the lapped cars as fast as I wanted to," Davenport said. "I saw (crew chief) Cory (Fostvedt) start closing his sticks up, so I had to get a little more aggressive than I really wanted to. I was just trying to take my time there a little bit and just not bang wheels with anybody. Because we've got a long race tomorrow and I'd rather be trying to work on speed than fixing stuff."

Key notes: Davenport is seeking his third career North-South 100 victory. ... Runner-up Ricky Thornton Jr. gained some ground late with the leading Davenport facing widespread traffic. ... Thursday and Friday preliminary points set the lineup for Saturday’s heat race lineups preceding consolations and the $75,000-to-win finale. … The purse increases to an event-record $325,000 over three days, including an event-high $3,500-to-start payoff in the finale.
