What won the race: Tyler Carpenter of Parkersburg, W.Va., repelled all challengers and cruised to win Saturday's 30th annual Topless 50 at Tyler County Speedway for his third career Jay's Automotive United Late Model Series victory. Carpenter collected $5,000, his second ULMS victory of the season and a sweep of this year's topless events after winning May 3's $5,000 opener at Ohio Valley Speedway in Washington, W.Va.
Key notes: All three of Carpenter's ULMS wins have been topless, including May of 2023 at Ohio Valley. ... Runner-up finisher Michael Lake extends his series points lead. ... Sixteenth-starting Jacob Hawkins overcame a heat race crash and finished third. He tangled while battling Travis Brown in preliminary action, climbing brown's left-rear and becoming airborne. The incident collected Chad Tasker and prevented all three from finishing. ... Brandon Weigle finished 16th aboard his father, Steve Weigle's No. 75 entry after losing his primary engine in Scott West's No. 47w machine during hot laps. ... The race was slowed by six cautions and lasted 36 minutes, with 13 running at the finish. ... Andy Taylor scratched following hot laps. ... Ryan Hare won the undercard Crate Late Model feature.
On the move: Jacob Hawkins of Fairmont, W.Va., started 16th and finished third.
