Anthony White Jr. inherited the Dylan Kennedy Memorial victory.
What won the race: After apparent winner Skip Arp was disqualified for a postrace safety violation, Anthony White Jr. of Clinton, Tenn., inherited Saturday's eighth annual Dylan Kennedy Memorial at Wartburg Speedway. White is credited with his second straight Kennedy Memorial victory and its ensuing $12,037 payday. He joins his father, Anthony White, as the event's only two-time winners.
Key notes: Skip Arp, the 2015 National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame inductee of Georgetown, Tenn., led all 40 laps and crossed the line 1.034 seconds ahead of Anthony White Jr. before a crewman rode on his car after the checkers, violating Wartburg's track safety rule that was communicated in the drivers' meeting. Arp was moved to the tail of the 21-car rundown. Arp's wife Janie detailed the violation in a Facebook post. ... Fourth-starting White Jr. reclaimed second from his father, Anthony White, with 10 laps remaining in what ended up being the pass for the win. ... The fifth-starting White, winner of the first two Kennedy Memorial events (2017, '18), was credited with second. ... Eleventh-starting Eddie King Jr. improved eight positions and rounded out the podium. ... Pole-starting Dusty Jones faded to sixth before retiring on lap 31. He was credited with 11th. ... The non-points event honored Dylan Kennedy, the younger brother of racer Drew Kennedy, who died on July 26, 2016, at the age of 22. Drew, winner of 2020’s fourth annual Kennedy Memorial, was eliminated in the race's third caution on lap 14 and relegated to 17th. ... The 50-lapper was slowed by six cautions and lasted 36 minutes, with nine drivers completing the distance.
On the move: Jed Emert of Maryville, Tenn., started 21st and finished ninth.
Winner's sponsors: White’s Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Phantom Race Engine and carries sponsorship from David C.
