What won the race: Second-starting Logan Roberson of Waynesboro, Va., rolled to a flag-to-flag victory in Saturday's 60-lap second annual Tommy Bare Memorial at Natural Bridge Speedway, winning by 3.136 seconds over Tyler Bare for the $8,800 payday. Roberson recorded his third overall victory of the season and second at Natural Bridge.
Key notes: Roberson's first Natural Bridge victory came in June 15's Bridge 57, a $10,000-to-win 604 Crate event. ... Tyler Bare, grandson of Tommy, grabbed second on lap 54 and chased Roberson the final seven circuits. ... Justin Williams and Russell Erwin traded the runner-up spot several times until Erwin gave way to Bare just before the race's halfway mark. Williams repelled further challenges, holding Erwin off for third. ... Tyler Arrington and Corey Gordon traded fifth in the final laps, with Arrington prevailing. ... Pole-starting Michael Alderman ran second to Roberson for the opening 14 laps before fading to sixth and eventually getting caught up in the race's first caution on lap 22. He soldiered to 17th place, one lap down. ... The event honored Tommy Bare of Rockbridge Baths, Va., the patriarch of a three-generation Late Model racing family with each member a champion at Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Va.; Bare died on March 22, 2020, at the age of 76. ... The race lasted 28 minutes, with 13 starters completing 60 laps and 22 running at the finish. ... The program was delayed 90 minutes after a brief rainstorm shortly after heat races.
