What won the race: Ricky Weiss, a Tennessee resident by way of Headingley, Manitoba, raced to a $7,500 victory Saturday in Clarksville Speedway's Tuckassee Toilet Bowl Classic, leading all 30 laps from the pole at the quarter-mile oval to take the checkers 0.746 of a second ahead of runner-up Jason Riggs, Friday's preliminary feature winner.
Quotable: "I really wanted to stay on the bottom," Weiss said. "I knew that was the best way around but a couple of guys were starting to get sideways there and I was getting a little worried that if they looped it I would be a sitting duck and get pinched off, so I tried to move up and I was hoping that wouldn't cost us the race. But there at the end I seen there's about six laps to go and I could see (his crew signaling) and knew we were pretty safe. I knew if they went around me they probably earned it and they deserved it."
Key notes: Along with $7,500, Weiss takes home Clarksville's unique toilet bowl trophy. ... Weiss notched his first Super Late Model victory since September 2023 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio (he was a seven-time winner in Limited and Crate Late Model competition last season). ... Weiss credited Aaron Lambert and Penske Racing Shocks for remote assistance. ... Two cautions slowed the 30-lapper. ... The first appeared on the 14th lap when David Seibers came to a stop atop turn two. ... Brad Skinner stopped on the backstretch two laps later for the second caution. ... Matt Cooper scratched from the feature. ... The two-day event began when Riggs, of College Grove, Tenn., led all but one lap of Friday’s Toilet Plunger opener, earning $2,500. ... The doubleheader weekend was a week later than originally schedule. Wintry weather caused the postponement and forced the track to run independently and with a smaller purse instead of what was originally planned with the first-year Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series. ... Brent McMillan won the Limited Late Model feature.
On the move: Friday's runner-up Jadon Frame of Decherd, Tenn., started 16th and finished ninth.
