Kerr's departure lifts White late at Wartburg
From correspondent reports
WARTBURG, Tenn. (Aug. 1) — Taking the lead when Tommy Kerr of Maryville, Tenn., retired with engine problems in the final laps, three-time series champion Anthony White of Clinton, Tenn., earned $3,000 at Wartburg Speedway for his second consecutive Advanced Auto Parts Thunder Series victory. Kerr led the first 37 laps of the 40-lapper, but tell-tale smoke in the laps signaled his demise with three laps remaining. | Slideshow
The third-starting White led the rest of the way for his series-leading 14th career victory to follow up on his June 27 win at Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Ga. Stacy Boles, also of Clinton, was second at Wartburg followed by series points leader Rick Rogers of Knoxville, Tenn. Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville and Dan Tipton of Kingston, Tenn. rounded out the top five.
