Glaser's Willamette victory extends I-5 points lead

LEBANON, Ore. (Sept. 8) — Two-time series champion Trevor Glaser of Tangent, Ore., took the lead of the 40-lap Budweiser I-5 Challenge Series feature on lap 11 and went on to a victory that extended his series and track points lead. Albany, Ore., driver Bob Boyd finished second after posting the fastest qualifying time and starting last in the 16-car main event field.
With Glaser starting in the sixth spot and taking the lead on lap 11, the battle for the second spot was a race-long battle between Boyd, Rob Mayea and hometown driver Tory Swayngim. Boyd held off the challenges of Mayea and Swayngim to take the second spot on lap 30 with Mayea and Swayngim fighting for third until the final lap. Mayea got the third spot ahead of Swayngim and David Cronk of Portland, Ore.

Randy Boyd and Bob Jeffery traded the lead several times in the 25 lap B-main with Boyd narrowly defeating the four-time track champion Jeffery. John Campos, Steven Sturdevant and Wade Mock rounded out the top five. ... Rob Campos of Redmond, Ore., won the 20 lap C-main with Bill Story in second ahead of Greg Schellhorn. ... Three-time super sport (Limited Late Model) champion won that division's feature. ... Willamette's championship night is scheduled for Sept. 15 with the Hoosier Tire 50 featuring the outlaw Late Models. ... The Bud I-5 Challenge series wraps up Sept. 28-29 at Southern Oregon Speedway's Bud Cup in Medford, Ore.
