Dohm captures Earl Hill Memorial at Tyler County
From series reports
MIDDLEBOURNE, W.Va. (Aug. 3) — Seventh-starting Tim Dohm of Cross Lanes, W.Va., overtook Alex Ferree of Saxonburg, Pa., amid traffic on the 15th lap and led the rest of the 51-lap Earl Hill Memorial at Tyler County Speedway for his first Unified Force Race Championship victory of the season. Dohm picked up $4,000 on a night when 49 Late Model teams packed the pits.
Doug Horton of Bruceton Mills, W.Va., slipped by Ferree on the 36th lap and finished second while Ferree's third-place finish was enough to push him back into the UFO points lead over eighth-finishing Jared Miley of South Park, Pa. Polesitter Mike Balzano of Parkersburg, W.Va., was fourth with Joe Loudin of Buckhannon, W.Va., rallying from his 16th starting spot to finish fifth. Steve Shaver of Vienna, W.Va., started 10th and got up to second before mechanical problems knocked him out on lap 33. Several incidents hampered the first 17 laps of the race, including a red flag on the second lap required to repair a guardrail after Keith Barbara's machine was squeezed in turn two.
Notes: Dohm's Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Dohm's Cycle, Axis Custom Decals, Melvin's Automatic Transmission Service, Poske's Performance Parts and Ohlins. ... Shawn McGarvey rallied from 24th to finish ninth and earn the Pass-Maximum award. ...
