Schlenk denies Reeve at Wildermuth Memorial
From track reports
WAUSEON, Ohio (Aug. 2) — Eighth-starting Rusty Schlenk of Jackson, Mich., overtook outside front-row starter Kevin Reeve of Hanover, Mich., amid lapped traffic on the 23rd of 30 laps and went on to victory in the Butch Wildermuth Memorial. The reigning Sunoco American Late Model Series champion earned $3,000 for his first ALMS victory of 2008 as he cut into the points lead of Brian Ruhlman of Clarklake, Mich.
Ruhlman started on the pole and battled with Reeve through the early laps. Reeve took command by the race's midpoint, but Schlenk tracked him down as the frontrunners navigated slower cars. Schlenk took over and led the final seven laps while Reeve, denied his first ALMS victory, settled for second. Curtis Deisenroth of Oak Harbor, Ohio, was third with Tyler Boggs of Warsaw, Ind., and Rusty Seaver of Stanton, Mich., rounding out the top five. Ruhlman was sixth.
