CHICO, Calif. (Aug. 16) — Bobby Hogge IV of Salinas, Calif., moved up from his fourth starting spot at Silver Dollar Speedway to become the first 10-time career winner on the Western Allstars DIRTcar Late Model Series. Hogge earned $3,000 for the victory as he outran local standout Ryan McDaniel. Jeff Decker of Morgan Hill, Calif., advanced two positions to finish third while front-row starter Jerry Bartlett of Yuba City, Calif., and hometown driver Richard Papenhausen rounded out the top five in the 30-lapper. | Hogge excited about best Late Model season | Slideshow

Papenhausen, a Silver Dollar regular in the modified division, led the first 14 laps from the pole position, but he nearly flipped his No. 4p before it came back down on four wheels and slid off the track. Rick Shafer of Vacaville, Calif., was scheduled to start on the pole, but he broke a rocker arm in his car's engine in winning the dash and elected to start on the tail.

Notes: Hogge has six victories in 15 Western Allstars events in 2008. ... Late Models were making their first appearance at Chico since 2000. ... Heather Bartlett, the daughter of Late Model racer Jerry Bartlett, won the street stock feature. ... Engine problems kept Ken Micheli and Chet Buckley from starting the feature.
