Crouch tops Feathers for first Winchester victory
From track reports
WINCHESTER, Va. (Aug. 16) — After a near-miss a week earlier, Walter Crouch of Bealeton, Va., captured his first career Late Model victory at Winchester Speedway.
Crouch jumped into the lead at the outset with Bubby Dillman Jr. and Denny Bonebrake hot on his heels through the early stages. An incident knocked Dillman out of contention, but Allen Brannon (on the high side) and Bonebrake (on the low side) continued to hound Crouch.
Crouch was able to maintain command as Bo Feathers worked his way into the second spot in the final laps. Feathers worked on Crouch in the low groove before jumping up high on the final lap. He pulled even with Crouch briefly, but Crouch edged ahead exiting turn four on the final lap to complete his victory. Feathers, Brannon and Bonebrake followed him to the checkered flag.
