Floyd outruns Mack for MSRA victory at I-30
From track reports
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Aug. 30) — Jeff Floyd of Walnut Ridge, Ark., picked up four points on series points leader Joey Mack of Poplar Bluff, Mo., with a victory on the O'Reilly Mid-South Racing Association at I-30 Speedway. Floyd earned $2,500 in topping Mack at the quarter-mile oval while Jon Mitchell of Texarkana, Texas, finished third. Kyle Beard of Trumann, Ark., and Ronny Adams of Greenwood, La., rounded out the top five. Floyd, whose winnings for his first MSRA victory of 2008 included a $500 bonus from GRT Race Cars, notched his third career MSRA victory and first since winning last July at I-30.
The polesitting Beard built a solid lead the first seven laps, but his spin dropped him to the tail and put Floyd in the top spot. Mack stayed with Floyd and slipped by to lead the 19th lap. On the next circuit, the frontrunners got together with both briefly losing control before recovering. Floyd moved back ahead on the 20th laps and led the rest of the 30-lapper.
