Rogers wins at Tazewell, snaps Kerr's streak

TAZEWELL, Tenn. (Aug. 31) — Rick Rogers of Knoxville, Tenn., overtook early leader Tommy Kerr of Maryville, Tenn., on the 10th lap at Tazewell Speedway and went on to a $5,000 victory in the Honda-Yamaha of Knoxville Labor Day Shootout for his second victory of the season on the Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series. Rogers, who survived a late-race altercation with the lapped car driven by April Farmer, halted Kerr's four-race win streak on the series while extending his series points lead. | Slideshow
Kerr, whose car suffered right-rear damage after contact with a slower car on the 10th lap, held on to finish second ahead of ninth-starting Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville. Anthony White of Clinton, Tenn., was fourth followed by Mike Weeks of Friendsville, Tenn. Polesitter Michael Smith faded early and ended up 12th.
