Barton fends off Pegher, gets Dog Hollow victory

Fastrak NortheastSTRONGSTOWN, Pa. (Sept. 5) — Dick Barton of Ashville, N.Y., overtook Kevin Meadows on the third lap at Dog Hollow Speedway and led the rest of the 25-lapper for his first Fastrak Northeast touring victory of the season. Barton, who fought off a mid-race challenge from Mike Pegher Jr., earned $1,200 in becoming the ninth winner in 10 series.
Dennis Lunger Jr., who inherited the second spot after Pegher spun on lap 17 while trying an outside pass for the lead amid traffic, was the runner-up for his best career series finish. Carl McKinney, who started 13th, was third followed by John Lackie and Rusty Moore. Series points leader Max Blair finished 22nd.
Notes: Barton's Ron Nielson-owned car is sponsored by The Bolt Place and Raceway 7. ... Barton's fourth career series victory ties him with John Lacki for the all-time series lead. ... The tour drew a season-low 23 cars. ... Fastrak Northeast drivers head to Mercer (Pa.) Raceway Park for a Sept. 13 event paying $1,200 to the winner.
