O'Neal tops English for Ironman Classic victory

CT PromotionsRICHMOND, Ky. (Sept. 13) — Polesitter Don O'Neal led all 34 laps at Richmond Raceway to collect $3,400 in the fourth Ironman Classic. The Martinsville, Ind., driver held off late-race challenges from fellow front-row starter Terry English of Benton, Ky., for the victory. Victor Lee of Stanford, Ky., advanced eight positions to finish third while former race winner Chris Combs of Isom, Ky., and Aaron Hatton of Mount Sterling, Ky., rounded out the top five in a race slowed by three cautions. The first three versions of the event were held at Mountain Motor Speedway in Isom.
