Bristol Motor Speedway
Notes: September new home for Jackson 100
From track, series and staff reports
The Jackson 100 has seen a variety of sanctions, a variety of winners and a variety of drama over its 29 years. But this year's event, sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, will be the first time Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway's biggest event will be run in September.
The special event, typically a mid-August tradition at Brownstown, is scheduled for Sept. 19-20 at the quarter-mile oval in southern Indiana. The race, mostly a one-day event in previous years, will also be run with a different format as drivers will time trial on Friday night with all the racing — heats, consolations and the 100-lap feature — on Saturday.
Previous Jackson 100 winners including Hall of Famers Scott Bloomquist and Billy Moyer along with Brownstown regulars like John Gill, Don O'Neal and Jim Curry. Matt Miller of Waterville, Ohio, won last year's event.
"It's one of my favorite places to race," said Miller, who plans to field his Stephen McCullough-backed No. 7 at Brownstown. "If we stay out of trouble, hopefully we can have a good run. ... It's a real racer-friendly track, and usually a real driver's track, too."
The $20,000-to-win event will be taped and televised during the off-season on the Speed cable network. Bob Poynter Ford is sponsored the weekend's action. — From staff and series reports

The Findlay, Ohio, track will host a program that includes ALMS Late Models along with two divisions of sprint cars and another lower division. — Brian Liskai
TRIPLE FEATURES AT CLEVELAND: One driver could leave with $4,500 on Sept. 20 at Cleveland (Tenn.) Speedway's Jimmy Mowery Memorial as the third-mile oval features three main events. The first 20-lapper will be lined up by qualifying with the second 20-lapper inverted. Both will pay $1,000-to-win. The third feature, a 25-lapper lined up by combined best finishes in the first two races, pays $1,500 to the winner. Any driver sweeping all three features will earn a $1,000 bonus from Car Smart Auto Sales for a potential $4,500 payday. — Steve Hixson
