Eddie Carrier Jr. nabs $5,000 victory at Ponderosa

O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar SeriesJUNCTION CITY, Ky. (Sept. 19) — Former series champion Eddie Carrier Jr. of Salt Rock, W.Va., led every lap of the Total Lubricants 50 at Ponderosa Speedway to earn $5,000 in the second-to-last O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series event of the season. Carrier, whose victory came in front of Outdoor Channel cameras, became the 10th different winner in the 2008 season in grabbing his eighth career series victory. | Slideshow
Series points leader Victor Lee of Stanford, Ky., just one race away from his second consecutive touring title, finished second ahead of brothers Brad and Dustin Neat of Dunnville, Ky. Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tenn., rallied from his 18th starting spot to finish fifth in a race slowed by four cautions.
Notes: Carrier drives a Carl Grover Motorsports Rocket Chassis with a Grover Race Engine and sponsorship from Blue Ridge Machinery and Tool. ... Three of the race's four cautions appeared in the first seven laps, including a spin by Brandon Hardgrove on the third lap that knocked David Gentry out of the race. ... Chris Combs and Joey Kramer got together on a lap-three restart and were eliminated. ... Shon Flanary spun on the 31st lap to draw the final caution. ... The series wraps up the season Sept. 20 with the 10th annual Best Bluegrass 50 at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, Ky. That event will also be televised later on the Outdoor Channel.
