Anvelink repels Springborn, earns $4,000 at Shawano

SHAWANO, Wis. (Sept. 27) — Nick Anvelink of Navarino, Wis., captured the WISSOTA Late Model portion of the Two Day of Thunder at Shawano Speedway for a $4,000 victory. Anvelink jumped into the lead at the outset and stayed in control early before facing a mid-race challenge from hometown driver Troy Springborn. Springborn edged ahead on the 21st lap as the frontrunners battled side by side, but Anvelink regained control and pulled away for the victory, lapping everyone except Springborn and Shawano's Tom Naeyaert.
Notes: The event drew 134 drivers in five divisions. ... David Fieber won the Fastrak Crate feature.
