WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (Oct. 5) — Grabbing another Liberty 100 crown, Brian Birkhofer of nearby Muscatine lapped  into the top 10 in dominating the long-distance event at West Liberty Raceway. Birkhofer earned $7,000 in the unsanctioned special. Andy Eckrich of Iowa City, who won the previous night's Race of Champions to pick up $2,000, was second in the main event followed by Dave Eckrich of Cosgrove, Iowa.
