Rain condenses Diamond Nat'ls to one-day event
The third annual SuperClean Diamond Nationals at Lucas Oil Speedway has been condensed into a single-day show after heavy rain washed away plans for time trials on Friday night. The $30,000-to-win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event, originally scheduled for May 8-9 at the Wheatland, Mo., track, is now scheduled to be run in its entirety on Saturday with hot laps beginning at 5 p.m. | Diamond Nationals preview
Heavy rain that was forecast to linger through Friday morning forced officials to make the schedule change for the event, which is co-sanctioned by the O'Reilly Midwest LateModel Racing Association.
Saturday's revised schedule calls for hot laps followed by time trials, heat races, consolations and the 75-lap Diamond Nationals main event. Lucas Oil Speedway's A-modified division will also run a complete program.
Pit gates open at 2 p.m. on Saturday with spectator gates opening at 3.
