Davenport fights off Faykus at Princeton
PRINCETON, W.Va. (May 24) — Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., fought off race-long challenges from reigning track champion Mike Faykus of Beckley, W.Va., for a flag-to-flag victory in Fastrak Racing Series touring action at Princeton Speedway. Davenport earned $2,000 for his second straight Crate Late Model victory during the Fastrak Shootout weekend.
“I gotta thank Mike. He’s a class act," Davenport said in victory lane. "As close as we were racing, he could have taken me out at any time and didn’t."
Faykus settled for second while Royce Bray of Hull, Ga., was third. Tate Hughes of Beaver, W.Va., was fourth and Eddie Hambrick of Beckley rounded out the top five.
