June 16, 2009, 9:37 am
From staff reports

With rain already falling and more forecast to come, Tuesday's fifth leg of the UMP DIRTcar Summernationals at Highland (Ill.) Speedway was postponed by track officials, according to the track website. The $6,000-to-win event was rescheduled for July 1, taking the place of the original date for a series event at Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill., the series announced. | Complete Summernationals coverage

The June 16 rainout gives drivers following the month-long, 27-race series a second consecutive day off following Monday's scheduled break. The next scheduled event is Wednesday at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, Ill., for a 40-lap feature paying $6,000 to the winner.

Former series champion Kevin Weaver of Gibson City, Ill., leads the chase for the $25,000 points crown after four races with 231 points following by two-time and reigning series champ Dennis Erb Jr. (224) of Carpentersville, Ill., Jason Feger (218) of Bloomington, Ill., Ryan Unzicker (217) of El Paso, Ill., and Terry Casey (207) of New London, Wis.

The first four races featured four winners with Jeep Van Wormer of Pinconning, Mich., winning at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway; Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., winning at Kankakee County (Ill.) Speedway; Eric Smith of Bloomington, Ill., winning at Kamp Motor Speedway in Boswell, Ind.; and Erb winning at Quad City Raceway in East Moline, Ill.
