Ivey leads last four laps for Clash victory at 311
MADISON, N.C. (July 11) — Third-starting Petey Ivey of Union, S.C., won his first Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series event in more than three years, leading the final four laps at 311 Fastrack for a $4,000 payday. Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., led 36 laps but ended up 18th at the end of the 40-lapper.
Five-time series champion Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, N.C., was second followed by Shawn Beasley of Lumber Bridge, N.C. G.R. Smith of Cornelius, N.C., finished fourth to take hard charger honors and Tim Allen of Kannapolis, N.C., rounded out the top five.
Notes: The event was the first series race at the track since 2005. ... Among drivers failing to make the feature lineup: Neil Welch, Mickey Flinchum, Jimmy McCormick and Larry McDaniels. ... The series takes a month off before an Aug. 7-8 weekend at Cleveland County Speedway in Lawndale, N.C., and Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Va., with both races paying $4,000 to the winner.
