Diemel rallies from sixth for Eagle Valley victory
JIM FALLS, Wis. (July 12) — Sixth-starting A.J. Diemel of Navarino, Wis., overtook race-long leader Jeff Curtin of Shawano, Wis., on the 18th lap and raced to victory in the a Fastrak Great Lakes touring event Eagle Valley Speedway. Diemel pulled away to a victory over Curtin and fellow Shawano driver Tom Naeyaert. Polesitter Justin Hirt of Tigerton, Wis., ended up eighth at the 3/8-mile oval.
Notes: The track hosted Racing for a Reason Night, raising more than $1,600 raised for cancer research. .... Legendary NASCAR driver Marvin Panch, a native of Menomonie, Wis., was on hand and spoke to fans about his career and his take on the night's racing during intermission. ... Scott Naset, pit car chief for Kevin Harvick, competed in the night's action in the Midwest Modified division.
