James grabs MSRA victory at Malden
MALDEN, Mo. (Aug. 7) — Getting a victory at his home track, Billy James of Sikeston, Mo., started outside the front row and raced to an O'Reilly Mid-South Racing Association victory at Malden Speedway. James earned $2,000 for his second career series victory and first since April 28, 2007, at Poplar Bluff (Mo.) Speedway.
MSRA points leader Billy Moyer Jr. of Batesville, Ark., advanced two positions to finish second with polesitter Kyle Beard of Trumann, Ark., third at the 3/8-mile oval in southeastern Missouri that runs Fastrak Crate Late Models weekly. Terry English of Benton, Ky., and Jamie Dacus of Lakeland, Tenn., rounded out the top five in the 30-lap event.
Notes: A single caution slowed the race on the 14th lap when Jeff Floyd rolled to a stop on the frontstretch after contact with Gary Christian. ... Michael Murphree earned the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger honors for his 18th-to-11th run. ... Drivers who didn't make the feature starting lineup: Michael Jessup, Tim Winchester, Kyle Berry and Steve Karnes. ... Next up for MSRA competitors is the Aug. 21-22 weekend at Beebe (Ark.) Speedway and Greenville (Miss.) Speedway. Both pay $2,000 to the winner.
