Smith leads 40 laps for Clash win at Lawndale
LAWNDALE, N.C. (Aug. 7) — Jeff Smith of Dallas, N.C., led all 40 laps from outside the front row at Cleveland County Speedway for his fourth Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series victory of the season. Smith earned $4,000 for his 21st career series victory.
Fast qualifier and polesitter Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., settled for second at the 4/10-mile oval with Chris Ferguson of Holly Springs, N.C., in third. South Carolina drivers Petey Ivey of Union and Jeff Cooke of Spartanburg rounded out the top five while Justin Labonte of Trinity, N.C., earned hard charger honors for his 21st-to-15th run.
The series completes the weekend Saturday with a $4,000-to-win event at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Va.
