Asplin grabs first series victory at Nevada
NEVADA, Mo. (Aug. 8) — Justin Asplin of Birch Tree, Mo., won from the pole at Nevada Speedway to become the first first-time winner on the Race Brothers Show-Me Racing Series in more than a year. Asplin earned $1,000 for the victory
Larry Campbell of Van Buren, Ark., crossed the line third but was moved up to second after Chris Morelock of Springfield, Mo., was disqualified after technical inspection. Apparently fourth-place finisher Jordan Holloway of Monett, Mo., was also disqualified, adjusting the finish with Ken Essary, Kevin Brown and Leslie Essary rounding out the top five in the 25-lap feature.
Notes: Asplin's GRT Race Car is sponsored by B&A Lumber. ... The previous first time series winner was Jordan Holloway, who also notched his first series victory at Nevada on July 5, 2008. ... Next up for the series is an Aug. 14 event at Outlaw Motor Speedway near Muskogee, Okla. The cars will run topless.
