Nosbisch edges Fitzgerald at Battle on the Blacktop
PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (Aug. 22) — Surviving engine problems late in the race, Keith Nosbisch of Valrico, Fla., led all the way in the Battle of the Blacktop at Charlotte County Motorsports Park. Nosbisch earned $3,000 as the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series cars ran their lone 2009 event on asphalt.
UDLMCS points leader Jason Fitzgerald, who took second from fellow Jacksonville, Fla., driver Johnny Collins just before the race's lone caution with 15 laps remaining, hounded Nosbisch late in the race but couldn't find a way past.
Fitzgerald was second followed by Collins, Mike Bresnahan of Inverness, Fla., and Dillon Wood of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. Fast qualifier Rich Pratt of Anthony, Fla., dropped out after 14 laps with oil-pressure problems.
