By Mike Leone
Fastrak Northeast SeriesMERCER, Pa. (Sept. 12) — Rallying from his 10th starting spot, David Scott of Garland, Pa., overtook Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., on the 14th lap and raced to a Fastrak Northeast touring victory at Mercer Raceway Park. Scott earned $1,200 for the 25-lap victory and extended his series points lead.
"I would have said Max was the guy to beat tonight. He's better here than we've been," said Scott, who was up to second after a lap-six restart. "I rolled around the outside to keep my momentum up. Max did that to get the lead and he moved to the bottom. That's what he's good at and I just stayed on top and kept digging."
Blair, who took the lead from Mike Blose on the third lap, settled for second that clinched the weekly Crate Late Model championship at Mercer. Butch Lambert was third followed by Mike Pegher Jr. and Bud Watson in a race where the final 19 laps ran caution-free.
Fastrak Northeast touring competitors return to Mercer on Oct. 3 for the opening night of the Grand Nationals, a $2,000-to-win event. Super Late Models also run a $2,000-to-win feature the same night.
