Thornton leads all the way for Tucson victory
TUCSON, Ariz. (Oct. 3) — Hometown driver Jeremy Thornton led all the way at USA Raceway from outside the front row for his second Southwest DIRTcar Racing Association victory in three starts. Thornton pocketed $1,000 for taking the checkered flag ahead of teammate Lonnie Parker Jr. of El Mirage, Ariz., and R.C. Whitwell of Tucson. | Slideshow
Brad Williams of Tucson was fourth after picking up two spots on the final lap with Joey Moriarty of Phoenix rounding out the top five. Anthony Madrid of Phoenix ran third early and ended up sixth and polesitter Jerry Fincher was 10th.
Notes: Brad Whitfield had a tough night when he wrecked hard in turn two, flipping his car. He wasn't injured but his night was over. ... New Mexico driver Butch Reid visited for a 17th-place finish. ... SWDRA competitors wrap up the season back at Tucson with a Nov. 6-7 doubleheader.
