Allen wins at Lancaster; Smith closes in on title
LANCASTER, S.C. (Oct. 10) — Fourth-starting Tim Allen of Kannapolis, N.C., took the lead from polesitter Johnny Pursley of Clover, S.C., on the 20th lap and led the rest of the way at Lancaster Motor Speedway for his third Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series victory of the season. Allen earned $5,000 for the 50-lap win in the second-to-last series race of the season.
Pursley settled for second with Luke Roffers of Concord, N.C., in third. Jeff Smith of Dallas, N.C., was fourth to extend his series point lead over five-time and reigning series champion Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, N.C., who was 13th. Hard charger Doug Sanders of Springwood, N.C., rounded out the top five.
The Countdown to the Cup ends with a $10,000-to-win event at 311 Fastrak in Madison, N.C., on Oct. 23-24.
