Last-lap pass lifts Les Essary to Spooker victory
POCOLA, Okla. (Oct. 17) — Making a last-lap pass, ninth-starting Leslie Essary of Crane, Mo., captured the season finale on the Race Brothers Show-Me Racin' Series at Tri-State Speedway. Essary earned $1,000 for his victory in the Late Model portion of the 30th annual Spooker, the series-leading 25th victory of his career.
Justin Wells of Aurora, Mo., who finished seventh, wrapped up his second series championship and first since 2004 in dethroning Essary, who won the 2007-08 titles.
Kevin Henson of Marionville, Mo., finished second in the main event with Larry Campell of Van Buren, Ark., in third. Ken Essary of Cape Fair, Mo., and Rick Lebow of Galena, Mo., rounded out the top five.
