NeSmith adds series for all-aluminum crate engines
The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series has added a third series for the 2010 season with the NeSmith Chevrolet Super Dirt Car Series that will provide a level playing field for the GM Performance CT525 All-Aluminum Spec Engine to compete with open engines in super late model competition for one-fourth the cost.
Both types of engines will be used in the new traveling Super Dirt Late Model series. Details, including purse structures, rules and scheduling will be announced next week.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Super Dirt Car Series will join the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour established in 2005 and the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for weekly tracks and competitors that began in 2006 utilizing the GM Performance 604 and 602 Spec Engines in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series family.
“We want to make sure that competitors understand that the new NeSmith Chevrolet Super Dirt Car Series will be a separate traveling series, and has nothing to do with the other two series we already have in place,” NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series founder and director Mike Vaughn said. “Nothing will change for 2010 for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour, or the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series.”
The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series has been conducting a research and development program involving the GM Performance CT525 engine with C.J. Rayburn Race Cars of Whiteland, Ind., during the second half of the 2009 season.
Drivers Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tenn., Aaron Ridley of Chatsworth, Ga., and Rodney Wing of Meridian, Miss., have competed in Super Late Model events, with Marlar winning at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway.
Like the GM Performance 604 and 602 engines, the GM Performance All-Aluminum CT525 Spec Engine is sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. To see more information about GM Performance All-Aluminum CT525 Spec Engine, visitwww.gmperformanceparts.com.
The National All Star Racing Association, launched by Rayburn last summer, also features the all-aluminum crate engines.
